Near the Calvet Museum, the Requien Museum presents the natural history of the Vaucluse and surrounding area. Fossils, minerals and specimens offer a journey through the region’s landscapes and habitats over time.
Natural-history collections
The Requien Museum is devoted to natural history. Fossils, minerals and animal specimens introduce the geology and wildlife of the Vaucluse and surrounding region.
The exhibits are only a small visible part of much larger collections, enriched by donations and research over many generations.
The collections and library also support research. Built in part from botanist Esprit Requien’s holdings, they have grown through gifts and acquisitions. The herbarium is an important scientific collection, only part of which appears in exhibitions.

Exploring the museum
The museum offers a journey through the natural history of the region: its minerals, wildlife and plant life. Gypsum crystals and fossils provide striking examples of the forms created by nature.
The entrance is less conspicuous than that of the neighbouring Calvet Museum. Inside, the displays invite visitors to look more closely at the rocks, fossils and natural processes that have shaped Provence.

Planning your visit
Admission is free. The City announces a closure from 1 to 31 December 2026. Check opening hours and visiting arrangements on the official page before travelling; groups of ten or more need to book.
