In 2007, Liliane Guiomar was the guest of honour at the 50th International Santon Makers' Exhibition in Arles. An entire room was devoted to her santons. Liliane Guiomar is a master santon maker and, above all, an accomplished artist. She gives her figures extraordinary imagination, humour and delicacy. This report pays tribute to her miniature masterpieces.

Delicate colours, expressive faces, fine drapery and poetic scenes define Liliane Guiomar's art. Emotion and tenderness radiate from these terracotta figures.

Her santons reach beyond traditional Provence towards Asia, Africa, the Americas and Russia, and into the rich imaginary worlds of fairy tales and their legendary characters.

Liliane Guiomar was awarded the title Meilleur Ouvrier de France in 1986 and 2000. Each piece is unique, made in her workshop in a village in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Éditions Équinoxes published a book about Liliane Guiomar in 2007 — a lovely gift for anyone who enjoys nativity scenes and santons.
