Cabannes is a small town, or large village, of 4,000 people on the left bank of the Durance, in the Bouches-du-Rhône, between Avignon and Cavaillon. In the parish church of Sainte-Madeleine, the local association has installed a superbly arranged 30 m² nativity scene.
At the touch of a button, the santons come to life and a day unfolds in the Provençal village. A river flows down from the mountain, beneath the Pont Julien, turning a waterwheel. The shepherd leads his sheep, the knife-grinder sharpens his tools, night falls and lights appear in the windows.
