The Monday morning weekly market in Forcalquier is an institution. It is the largest market in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, and is certainly one of the liveliest and most beautiful markets in Provence. This sunny Easter Monday is particularly busy: the holiday gives many people an opportunity to visit.

People come from far away to stroll between the market stalls, the lively atmosphere is contagious, and the diversity of the products on display is very tempting : local products, fabrics, earthenware, clothes, and many others. Regular customers come early in the morning by 8 a.m. to avoid the crowd. The many tourists come later in the morning.

The tradition of the market in Forcalquier dates back to ancient times. Since early Middle Ages, the church has also borne the name Notre-Dame du Marché. The stalls stand on the central Place du Bourguet, on both sides of the main road passing through the city, they extend well into the old town and the adjacent streets and squares.
