Tour in Avignonean Froissart, a poet and chronicler contemporary with the Avignon's Popes, describes the Pope's Place as the "most beautiful and strongest house in the world". The Pope's Palace is the most important monument of Avignon's Heritage.
Tour in Avignonhe Popes Palace consists in two parts : the "old Palace", built by the pope Benidict 12, and the "new Palace" built by his successor Clement the  6, "the magnificent".
